![]() ![]() The Deacon’s main strength is Crowd Control. Any other Daughter will take damage that will limit their ability to continue fighting. With her armor and the Blacksmith’s Grace ability, the boss is unable to do seriously crippling damage. This roots and delays all Daughters except the furthest one from the boss, who becomes the ‘ Penitent.‘ĭo not get too close, he does have 2 AOE attacks, an Instant (Curse), which damages and delays all Daughters caught in it, and Delayed (Mass) Attack, which can one-shot KO your entire team.īig tip for this: You want to have the Shieldbearer become the Penitent. In this phase, he mostly uses his Confession ability. ~1500 damage per 30 AP means you can kill him quickly. His 7000 HP seems massive, but it drops quickly when you have a Blademaster backstabbing. Using Slams to try and delay the Surgeon is also an idea, provided that you have the damage output elsewhere to kill him quickly (Shadow Round on Soulslinger is nice for this when you have her backstabbing the Surgeon). In that case, Immediately use Blacksmith’s Grace, and trigger his Self-Medication so that the Shieldbearers initiative drops fast. Especially good is when you have the Shieldbearer going before the Soulslinger. The 180 armor almost entirely negates his normal attacks, and the initiative boost is great. The best bet is to tank the damage from the Surgeon with a Shieldbearer using the Blacksmith’s Grace ability. Shieldbearer with Blacksmith’s Grace can tank this for 0 damage. Relentless (Treatment?): Triple-strike attack dealing ~200*3 damage. ![]() This doesn’t trigger for Ranged damage (i.e. Whenever he takes damage from a Daughter in melee range, immediately attack the Daughter. The only way to counter/survive this is to either have a Shieldbearer using Blacksmith’s Grace tank it, which won’t stop the damage entirely, only reduce it to a total of ~800, or to stop it completely, use the Soulslinger’s Interruption Round. For more information, check out our guides and features hub.: This skill is the main one which will 1-shot KO your entire team. This stacks with the Buried Gear Remembrance from the Surgeon boss fight (so any new recollection/restart will have you begin in chapter three). The Heavy Key allows all newborn Daughters to start at level 7 and the Clock Key lets you skip an additional era. When you’ve sent the Deacon back to his confession box, you’ll be given a couple of Remembrances. This will proc a free melee attack and probably trigger additional hits from Shadow Round. Don’t forget to use Intercepting Round and Shadow Round when necessary.Īs for your Blademaster, if you’ve unlocked Accepting Stance, she can gain a buff like the Soulsinger’s Spirit Haste. Your Soulsinger/s, meanwhile, should keep doing their ranged shots, but be careful not to enter a burst state. This ensures that she’ll become “penitent” and thus be able to move and, eventually Slam to boss to delay him. If possible, make sure that your Shieldbearer is further back at the beginning of this Othercide boss fight. If the boss uses Confession and multiple Daughters get rooted, or some entered a burst status and can’t take their turns yet, it’s highly likely that they won’t be able to move away from this. Liturgy is extremely deadly due to its wide coverage (seen below). Liturgy (charged) – does 900 damage to everyone caught in a massive area the safe spots are closer to the boss.Holy Cross (reaction) – when attacked, damage everyone in a cross-shaped area the attacks emanates from the boss’ current location and is avoidable with some careful repositioning.Once the Deacon boss goes below 50% health, he’ll switch to phase two and gain new abilities: That also means the remaining three Daughters won’t be able to do much. More often than not, it’s your Soulsingers that’ll become the “penitent” character since they’re ranged classes. The Confession mechanic will be the most important factor in Othercide‘s Deacon boss fight. Fervor (phase transition) – after reaching 50% health resets initiative to zero (takes a turn after you’re done).Confession (reaction) – furthest Daughter becomes “penitent” (allowed to move and act) all other Daughters are rooted on the spot and delayed.Mass (charged) – does roughly 3,000+ damage to all Daughters within a hexagonal grid around the boss.Curse (instant) – AoE damage delays characters in melee range.Othercide: The Deacon boss guide The Surgeon boss fight info Note: For more information, check out our Othercide guides and features hub. The battle is somewhat tough, but a little preparation, especially after the Surgeon fight should carry the day. The Deacon is the second boss in Othercide, and he’ll make you pray for mercy. ![]()
